Description
Ink illustration of a Humboldt penguin.
Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I used mostly Sakura pigma micron marker pens and an Akashiya Sai ink brush pen for the darkest areas.
Penguins are aquatic flightless birds, all of who have wings that have adapted into flippers suitable for their marine environment. A common sight in zoos worldwide, the humboldt penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) is a vulnerable species of South American penguin found along most of coastal Chile and Peru. The Humboldt penguin is very similar in appearance to the African penguin, with pink patches of skin above the eye, black markings across the face and upper body and a white chest with a black stripe going across the chest with some black spots on the chest also. Their beak is less pointed than an African penguins.
