Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I used mostly Sakura pigma micron marker pens and an Akashiya Sai ink brush pen for the darkest areas.
Lions are one of the worlds most widely recognised animals, they are a big wild cat known for the large mane seen in males of the species. Lions are linked to royalty and have a majestic image due to historically being held in the Tower of London menagerie where they were named after the reigning King or Queen of the period.
Asiatic lions (Panthera leo leo) are an endangered lion sub species, they are found only in the Gir National Park, a forest and wildlife sanctuary in India. Also know as the Indian lion and Persian lion, the Asiatic lion is one of 5 large cat species currently in India, the other species are Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, snow leopard and clouded leopard.
