Description
Ink illustration of a red bellied lemur.
Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I used mostly Sakura pigma micron marker pens and a brush pen for the darkest areas.
The red bellied lemur (Eulemur rubriventer) is a vulnerable lemur with a beautiful chestnut brown fur coat which is quite long and fluffy, with with patches on the face around the eyes. Males have a black tail and lighter coat whilst females have white fur under the neck and chest. They are found in the Eastern rainforests of Madagascar and feeds mainly on leaves, nectar and flowers.
Lemurs are a primate found only on the Island of Madagascar There is around 100 living species of lemur, most of which are small with big eyes and long tails. According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) lemurs are the worlds most endangered mammals.
