Description
Photograph of a wild Japanese macaque monkey taken at Iwatayama Monkey Park in Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan.
A hike up Mount Arashiyama rewards you with not only stunning views over the city Kyoto and the surrounding mountains but also a troupe of wild macaques. Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) are monkeys native to Japan, they have a pink face and a thick coat of long brown grey fur over their body. They have adapted to colder climates and this is how they got their other name, snow monkey.
